One aim of the project is to develop a system for efficient\nmonitoring of wide scale vegetation changes. The Oze Region, however, is often covered with snow and clouds throughout the year, making monitoring of wide scale changes challenging. This research examined a method for using satellite remote sensing data to create a physiognomic vegetation map for Ozegahara Moor and the surrounding mountains. A total of 268 Landsat/OLI images were ecorded in 2014(88 scenes), 2015(86 scenes)and 2016(94 scenes). The images were rocessed by removing clouds and snow and mosaicked for each year. Ground truth data were prepared based on field survey information and extant vegetation maps produced by the Ministry of the Environment, and the mosaicked images were classified using the Random Forests machine learning system.
